Ground hot pepper is the most important food group in Hungarian cuisine which is why it's really cool that my work's canteen always has it out on the counter for free, whether that day's menu calls for it or not

Edit: by pepper I mean *Capsicum spp.* and not *Piper spp.*

Silly English only using "paprika" to refer to the powdered form
