(Shit talking agriculture has activated me mind spilling, lol)
population estimates for ancient pre-axial age societies keeps increesing by significant leaps in size with more investment put into study.

Global monocrop agriculture is claimed to be the only way to feed 8 billion people, but, the set only leads to escalating disease, an enormous part of that production is wasted, only used for meaningless commercial reasons, and continually showing lesser returns leading to escalating consumption, and much of the social arrangements that lead to ecological devastation only exist for reasons of keeping the workforce disciplined.

I fully think that the calculations from permaculturalists that global permaculture and syntropic gardening and intentional rewilding (in the sense of how the amazon rainforest has been both wild and cultivated) would be enough are basically accurate.

On the other hand, ecological mismanagement and empire building in ancient times with far fewer people already left deserts in their wake. Even smaller populations can still wreck the world if they continue without changing the absurd attempt at anthropcentric unemeshed relations, it's not really any solution at all

Getting thru the hell apparatus that governs the world structure is the problem and only possible escape. Tho, we probably see what that means very differently.
