I never said there are no differences, I was just pointing that you were defining an arbitrary criteria for what should "just work" and what shouldn't.

If you tell me the criteria for name resolution that should "just work" is that it has to have "authority" then fine, that's reasonable, but that wasn't clear from your previous statements and is not some obvious truth (in fact many people have fallen for the content-addressability fairytale) and you weren't there to say that would not work 10 years ago because "authority".
