In the end it is about the product: Good marketing will make a bad products fail faster.
Maybe those marketing tricks are not that important, if your product is great.
But I remember to sign up for ChatGPT and I think I had to wait a bit, to get access. In then of course there were limitations. But they were clearly hardware/scaling related and not artificial, at least I think so.
