Which do you feel is more magical, a self-signed TLS certificate or TLS Certificate RawPublicKey option as defined in RFC 7250 (and mentioned in the TLS 1.3 RFC too but not explicitly explained there IIRC)? Presuming they both are EdDSA ed25519 that is

I don't like depending on DNS nor certification authorities.

In order to keep current nostr identities, you'd need some way to map a secp to a ed25519 and then use the latter to do the lookup in DHT.

If nostr broke away from secp it would be starting over - we lose all current people (who are on the wrong curve) and all current events -- in which case we may as well do a lot of other things differently too. I think about this all the time.
