They're just trying to nudge you into using their app instead of some browser.

It's been an ongoing trend for quite some time: platforms once had websites that could be used quite frictionlessly. To me it appears as if many platforms have been intentionally adding more friction into the usage of their websites since they introduced their apps.

One example: one public transport service I use. Not kidding, to "simply" adjust the time of departure when booking a train, you have to tap +/- dozens of times to get there from the initially proposed time. You _cannot_ just enter the numbers (it was possible with past versions of the mobile website). So in order to go to a departure time of 17:00 when starting at 10:00 in 15 min steps, I HAVE TO TAP "+" 7*4 = 28 TIMES, what the fff! You might think "what idiot designed this?" .. nope, this is pure intention. They want me to use their app instead, by making their mobile website as much PITA as possible while still barely providing the functionality.
