Does that make the protocol binary? Does that change how filters work? Does that get existing software to remember the dates when events arrive? Does that divorce the protocol from DNS-based URLs and certificate authorities? There are lots of things besides key rollover involved here. That's my point... there are multiple points of pain. The question is are there enough to make a step-change worthwhile? And very importantly, could it happen without splitting the community? Very hard questions and maybe the answer is that we simply can't have nice things. But I think it should be discussed.
