# How do medications work?
Drugs are basically divided into two groups:
1) sympathicotonics → innervating
2) vagotonics → relaxing
As per the 2nd Biological Law of Nature, every so-called disease is a two-phase event, provided there is a conflict resolution.

The first phase is sympathicotonic and the second phase is vagotonic. It is in this second phase, also called healing phase, that microbes become active (to help) and when we feel sick, tired and have pain (but not always).
A sympathicotonic drug can mitigate or even interrupt the vagotonic healing phase. The cost of the mitigation is, however, that the healing phase will be prolonged.
Sympathicotonics like cortisol or antibiotics can also interrupt the vagotonic healing phase by making the patient sympathicotonic. The healing symptoms disappear then and the patient will seem to be »healthy«. But this lasts only until the effect of the drug ceases again. A vicious circle can easily result from this.
According to the 3rd Biological Law of Nature, microbes work exclusively in the vagotonic healing phase. They recede in a sympathicotonic environment. And that is how for example antibiotics work — in other words they do not eliminate the microbes as is commonly believed.
