i would posit that you have a strange viewpoint of americans who do not watch the television nor adopt the TV's messaging on how to view the world- believe it or not the idea of constantly fighting ivan in endless proxy wars that chew through men and countries fell out of general favor long ago, and worsening a deteriorating economic situation in service of that is not popular on its face either. it requires much mass media messaging to get someone who is concerned about making rent to feel happy about seeing billions of dollars transferred to arms manufacturers and politicians so we can claim a share in an ethnic blood feud we didn't know or give a shit about beforehand
