On Monday, it will be the 405th anniversary of the Mayflower departing for the New World with a boatload of Pilgrims.
When I was taught about this, I was told the sailors were mean to the Pilgrims and called them "puke stockings"
When I got older, I found out they were religious lunatics who wanted to impose their weird backward values on everyone in England and I can see where the sailors were coming from.
