The pretence to moral authority has never fooled the international community, except for those who, consciously or unconsciously, take shelter under its umbrella of potential for violence. Maybe that's why so many naive Canadians still think America has moral authority to lose, after Vietnam, after Cambodia, after the slave children (sorry. Prisoners with jobs) fighting fires in California, after the five hundred thousand coups and asassinations to stop democracy, after Abu Ghraib, after the broken promises and decades of kidnap and torture of the innocent at Guantananamo...it takes a lot of work to ignore all that and think America should be worried about its moral authority.
