We make it work and still save quite a bit of our income.
Our annual income is generally between 70-100K before any tax or deductions, and we live on 30k to 40k/yr.
I think most people can do this if they want too. They are just to attached to having 2 nice cars, a fancier house than they need, buying whatever they want at the grocery store, eating out frequently, buying stuff daily from Amazon, DIYing home repairs and maintenance instead of outsourcing everything, etc etc.
The "standard of living" has gone way up since decades ago when most family's lived off one income. It's still very much possible today on one average income.
