I see solid case for government involvement in infrastructure, security (internal, external) but this comes with big “but” regarding transparency of the whole process. So there are areas that require coordination and decision making on coutry level and there are others that should be left for the individuals to decide.
I see no point for government involvement in any commercial activities not only because it is not the reason for having government at all but also because these enterprises would not be competitive. This is misalocation of resources.
I am not even including there reasons regarding corrupion or waste of resources which are always associated with any central government activities. This is pathological behavior.
But, it is nice to dream. Bureaucracy never agrees to limit itself. They are always in expansion mode.
