While skimming the less(1) manpage, noticed a reference to lesskey(1)*, which is missing on macOS. Wanted to report a bug, but checked FreeBSD and it's missing there, too. Should probably fix it there first.
*) the lesskey command is deprecated, but the manpage is still relevant
