Favorite part of the writing process and why.
Ideation and drafting, hands down. I've become a plotter over time, so ideation is not just the initial spark of inspiration but also all the downstream incidents from it. Who the characters are, the basics of the story, etc. For me it's like getting to know a new person. I'm used to being trauma dumped on by real people, so I kind of enjoy the slow process of extracting a full story from my characters. It's how I wish more people would interact with me.
As for drafting, I'm coming to appreciate it more. This is all the stuff after the initial editing read through. And I do make a difference between editing and drafting. Drafting is going back and adding more detail, expanding a scene, or reworking something entirely. I love it because, as a plotter, these are the pantser moments for me š And like ideation, I feel like I'm just getting those finer details from the characters.
