"content": "I appreciate the argument (Must Use The New Hotness!) … but I work on a telephony microservice that has soft real time requirements, where memory safety and determinism are critical, written in Rust. Garbage collected languages are less useful in this space. We could have used C++ or maybe Go. I feel both would have been harder work (have only dabbled in Go). Trying to shoehorn Rust into the Linux kernel - will be a gargantuan undertaking, easier to start afresh.",
