I must admit that I was always the loud typist in the office. I put it down to this, the first typewriter I ever used. I believe it's a 1923 Royal?
But regardless it took a solid hit to make a clear impression with any key. The shift key physically lifted the carriage.
My parents used it through probably the '80s, until computer and printer finally supplanted it.
