The problem with something not tied to #Bitcoin is that it value is not tied thus how to determine that, keep it stable.
I can understand the idea that short term stability would be good enough but even that is very hard with no anchor what so ever.
Last argument is tgat a hard tie is technically absolute possible so why not do it ?
