Isn't it a sign of intellectual and cultural devolution if, in 2024, people still believe that wealth can be created with a centrally controlled central bank interest rate? The mania with which market participants, the media and politicians stare at central bank decisions is just too scary, as it is an expression of the fact that we are stuck in a system that only serves to exploit the middle class. It seems that we as a community can only learn through painful events and then take appropriate evolutionary steps to repair the systemic damage and move forward intellectually and in system design.
