For better or worse, I use #YouTubeMusic as my music streaming service of choice. I watch copious amounts of youtube such that I pay for the premium subscription (no ads makes it worth it for me) and since YTM is included in the premium service, I leverage it.

So, in true Spotify copycat fashion, YTM has a "recap" feature at the end of the year, which supposedly shows me my listening habits. A nice idea, but utterly misguided by the way I use YTM, such that the results of my recap are somewhere between maddeningly wrong and laugh out loud stupid.

My usage of YTM is mostly* as a music discovery tool, not a "I'll listen to my favorite things" tool. I do 👍 songs that I like though, such that my "liked music" playlist at least reflects my actual preferences.

However, when I hop in the car and just quickly want to listen to something, I (foolishly?) tend to pick one of 2 options: "liked music" playlist or "my supermix" playlist... both of which _do not randomize by default_ ... so the result is I end up listening to the same few songs way more often than actually reflects my preferences. 🤦‍♂️

I should just not even click on the damn thing, but I keep hoping it'll tell me something revelatory, like a chump. 😅
