OK, I had a chance to spend a few hours in the field with the new Heipi tripod. Didn't make any serious photos, but enough to get a sense of how well it works with the heavy-but-not-insanely-so gear I use.
Bottom line: Small and light make it easier to take this tripod with you more places, and that's a big win. Works fine under favorable conditions (no wind, stable ground. etc). But it felt like I was pushing it to its limits. Doesn't compete with my RRS TFC24, which isn't much bigger/heavier.
