It requires creating a file (can be empty or not) at a specific location in the home directory to enable it for Terminal in that profile. It's off by default and has no UI to enable it at the moment but probably will. They'll probably keep it opt-in. It's implemented by proxying to ANGLE on the host which then handles rendering similar to how WebGL works in a web browser. It's not directly proxied to the host but rather it's ANGLE doing it.
