I mined bitcoin with a GPU long ago. Also tried the little 5W antminer asics. I learned mining is not an efficient use of time or money if all you want is bitcoin. If you have cheap electricity and already have a use for heat, then it makes sense. Unfortunately it only makes sense for me if I always had cheap electricity and always needed waste heat, and I don't. This means I my ROI has to be done in half the year and one third of the day. Unless the miner is profitable within its lifetime and useful level of hashpower and assuming it doesn't need constant attention and maintenance, it's more of a hobby project than anything else.
