Mike on Nostr: GM When I was first starting out on the family firms corporate ladder, the salesmen ...
GM
When I was first starting out on the family firms corporate ladder, the salesmen looked like they were having fun. So I decided to try my hand at talking to customers on the phone before being given a car to visit them in person.
After two years of talking to customers on the phone, I moved to the computer department to manage the mainframe. I had found my niche.
I missed the boozy pub lunches the salesmen enjoyed, but I found a role I really, really enjoyed.
What I did learn by talking to the external corporate world was that I didn’t enjoy it, after many years of analysis I think I know myself to understand why.
It can be summed up in an early lesson you are taught in sales college.
Don’t ASSUME. This makes an ASS out of U and ME.
I entered the assumption world again in a NOSTR discussion last night.
I don’t like it.
Have a nice day everybody.
