CentOS is not dead, it's alive and well. Stream isn't a different distro, it's an improved variant that can accept contributions (the classic variant couldn't). Within each major version it's 90-95% the same software versions as RHEL at any given time. That's because it's the next minor version of RHEL, which has to stay highly compatible.
