Sure, all current IP law (copyright, patent, trademark) has been more or less dictated by corporate interests rather than actual creatives. BUT at least there has always been a segment of dedicated policymakers and lawyers trying to use those laws to protect the creative workers.
One way to look at DRM is as a fourth category of IP, but one that is exclusively and unambiguously for the protection of capital.
