This audio thing got me thinking, how do you see distortion products below 100 dBc in a regular lab? 24-bit direct sampling should give you ~120 dB SFDR but it must be constructed meticulously given this tiny margin. So it's better to go old-school and kill the carrier first with a hardwired fundamental reject filter, reducing the dynamic range requirement of the ADC. The ADC preamp must still be low-distortion but more feasible than direct sampling. I'm going to call this circuit Audio Approximation System One.
