I find that I can only be confident that software is going to work reliably and be fixable when it breaks if it's free software.

It is extremely odd that people want to shoot themselves in the feet with proprietary software and blast proprietary shrapnel everywhere, when they could use free software that respects their freedom and that doesn't strike others with proprietary shrapnel, but there's nothing I can do to make people use any particular software, thus I have no want for such.
