The primary function of Fed is to stabilize prices .. ak 2 % target inflation .. so fed prints dollars ( QE) or destroys them ( QT) to keep the prices of ( CPI basket) stable ..
Goes without saying that their operations can be improved ..a lot .. But , keeping prices stable is a function that can't be eliminated.. it is important to plan my retirement ! .. long terms business contracts ! .. no one can plan financial future without stability ..
