If you @ someone on here (i.e. mention their Fediverse address), they will be able to see your post, even if you're using a private post visibility mode like "followers-only" or "mentions-only".

If you want to discuss an account in private, use a private visibility mode but do not @ the account. Instead you could (for example) replace the @ symbols in their address with the word AT, which will stop the address being recognised by the software.
