When I was in JrHigh in the late 80s our music teacher received a late stage diagnosis (common at the time) and died within the year.
It is an amazing triumph of medical science and public health that this is now rare in north america.
It is infuriating that our society seems determined to simply roll back so many of these advances in the interests of power and ideology.
