I'm reposting this as I actually wanted it to be a public post, not private!

This is the last post on this topic. The change here is one that I'm very happy about.

The community garden where we have our plot is part of a larger park that includes, among other things, a playground.

During the summer, the playground is desolate between 11am - 3pm because it has no shade and it gets unbearably hot. This always bugged me as I wished there were more trees and more shade.

Mom is an urban planner and an urban-tree enthusiast. She encouraged me to get in touch with the city and ask for more trees.

I'm not very good at that type of thing, but when we got an email for a work party at the community garden, I decided to ask about the trees, since it was in the same park. They replied a vague "we'll ask the tree coordinator" or something like that. I didn't have high hopes.

I hadn't been much to the community garden (because of cold weather and me getting covid). Well, at some point in the past two months, they got busy. Last weekend we were there to finish up the mulching and I couldn't believe it... they planted over 20 trees: all around the playground, and a couple in the vicinity of the garden where the shade of the tree should not affect the plots.

Sometimes change is ready to happen and all it needs is a gentle nudge.
