Swede’s Photographs on Nostr: Head Turner Whenever I see a picture of one of these hawks with its head turned ...
Head Turner
Whenever I see a picture of one of these hawks with its head turned backwards, I think of the movie, "The Exorcist." But there is nothing supernatural about this Coppers hawk (Astur cooperii) ... or is there?
"A Cooper's Hawk captures a bird with its feet and kills it by repeated squeezing. Falcons tend to kill their prey by biting it, but Cooper’s Hawks hold their catch away from the body until it dies. They’ve even been known to drown their prey, holding a bird underwater until it stopped moving." - allaboutbirds.org
I don't post all of the photos that I post here to my Pixels gallery, but I post the photos I like best. Some don't make the cut. I usually wait a couple of days and see how I feel about it then.
