Could be a few different things. You say "cable router" - does that mean a single box to connect to the cable & route? [I have a cable modem & separate router]
If so, there could be a problem on the cable side OR issues on the router side. Cable side problems usually affect all devices though.
But yeah, rebooting the router every so often isn't a bad idea anyway. I don't trust the cruft inside a router to work "forever".
