hostile architecture - just one more sign that democratic government is of the people by only some of the people and for the comfort of a select few.

made the mistake of paying megabucks to take elderly aunt on the tram restaurant in melbourne a few years go - it was very late, there was nowhere she was physically able to sit (seats in the waiting shelter replaced with leaning boards to deter homeless sleepers) then some b* on a pushbike ran into her cos the crowd waiting had spilled onto the path and yelled at her cos bikes had right of way (not where aunt was standing, actually) no one connected with the tram apologised (they were in a fairly horrible mood of the don’t you dare complain or i’ll fight back variety)

who does hostile architecture (or even “hostile service”) serve?
the sort of people who gentrify inner suburbs?
i’m pretty sure most homeless people would be happy to pay a reasonable amount for reasonable accommodation if the people lurking in the shadows of government gave a toss
