This woman's story deserves to be more widely known, well done BBC for publishing this.
Elżbieta Zawacka, codename "Zo" was one of the leading women in the Polish resistance during World War Two.
But as well as fighting the Nazis she also had to fight the leadership of the Polish government in exile simply to be accorded the same rights and status as male resistance fighters. And by doing so, saved thousands of lives.
