If you still shoot 35mm film, I'm guessing you have a bunch of your favourite film stock in a freezer or fridge, stashed away just in case.
But - what about film cameras?
Are you shooting with a camera that requires a battery to fire the shutter?
What happens when a capacitor or something expires and it's no longer usable?
This is why you need an all mechanical camera as a backup.
One that only needs a battery for the light meter and nothing else.
My recommendation: a Pentax MX
Why?
- plenty were made
- common lens mount
- very robust mechanism
- not so old as to feel primitive
There are others eg Nikon FM2N or Olympus OM-1N but the MX is my preferance as it takes so many PK and M42 lenses (with an adapter).
Keep using your electronic camera for now while it still works, but get a mechanical backup just in case.
