I'm not sure why, but every time to date Raspbian (or Raspberry Pi OS as it seems to be called now?) has had a broken upgrade process where I've had to manually intervene, e.g. last time broke the DHCP client.
The official guidance seems to be to install the new version on a separate SD card and then copy your data across, which is suboptimal.
