mothball蛾玉 (和文化研究部) (nprofile…unus) Sun (nprofile…h6f2) it is hard to make it so that a blockchain can have a lot of people using it at the same time. some bitcoin developers back in 2017 wanted to do bitcoin transactions outside of the bitcoin blockchain using something called payment channels. they were going to build a secondary bitcoin network based off of payment channel architecture and it's called the lightning network.
there were people who said "no, don't do that, it's retarded and it won't work for reasons x, y, z." those people were right, but a lot of devs who are considered important in the bitcoin space have still not decided that lightning doesn't work and they are still trying to make lightning work 8 years later. a few ethereum devs were about to make something similar to lightning that was called raiden, but they gave up very quickly and later switched to making a different thing that works much better.
