I've been occasionally unfortunate to be in "advisory" roles where I was brought in due to my ~vibe~ of being "smart", implicitly to give my imprimatur of "smartness" to some bad strategy. This is a cushy gig. It's easy. Just repeatedly give a bunch of the same basic advice to people incentivized to humor and ignore you. It is, however, toxic to one's career development and bone-grindingly frustrating.

It felt a lot like what being a critic of blockchain or LLMs feels like.
