Our media constantly makes up fake eastern European countries, and fake US *cities*, but I've never seen a fake US state. Oddly it seems like all our fictional countries are stand-ins for Lithuania., Nepal, or Honduras. I've never seen a fake Nordic country or a double for New Zealand.
