It’s interesting to watch alt-right folks try to hijack the #Fediverse like they did with #Reddit. They follow the same strategy:
Pose as a progressive with an interest in certain pet causes (e.g., veganism, atheism, etc.)
Declare free speech as an absolute right
Push the idea that all viewpoints have equivalence
This strategy, though, only works if they have power over communities and there’s no escape hatch.
Which is why building redundant communities on multiple servers (and software) is so important.
For example, there should be no default video game community.
