I dunno why anyone's actually surprised anymore
These companies are more than likely getting kickbacks off of it, the people in charge of this have no trucking experience; they don't give a rat's ass whether it falls apart or not unless they miss out on getting a bonus
The supply chain will basically be no more, because they're going to have so many battery failures in the summer and winter. Not to mention how taxing that would be on the power grid because the of the stations; these drivers are probably going to be sitting with no pay because of how long it's going to take these trucks to charge in the first place.
Most truckers who retire/quit are getting replaced with paki and pajeet drivers
And the semi trucks are manufactured so cheaply now, that they fall down or end up having to take them back in repeatedly for repairs. They're already on a pathway to computerize what they can inside of these trucks, instead of keeping tabs manually.
I know someone personally who ended up getting moved to one of these newer trucks and he had to take it in 6 or 7 times consecutively! he almost got into a few wrecks because it would automatically lock up and force him into a break for no apparent reason. The company approved mechanics kept bullshitting him until they admitted they couldn't do shit. The manufacturer's mechanics had to come out there, and tinker around with it because they had no clue what was going on with it either
We're screwed
