I still have to get around to digging into Nostr yet, but I assume it involves self-authenticated identities and signed messages, and using relays as temporary inbox/outbox storage.
I don’t know if received posts gradually expire after a time, otherwise if so, then it’s probably only practical for strictly social interaction and not as much for content publishing.
Nonetheless, I assume with the concept of Nostr relays, that it’s probably a fairer balance between “everything is the same type of node”-decentralized and conventional federated software.
