Trial for third defendant from PSU was set to start today- but we’re still on standby and uncertain if it’ll actually happen.
First defendant was acquitted back in September. Second defendant was acquitted yesterday. The defendant who was set to start today is still having issues receiving necessary discovery from the State, which prosecution has demonstrated in court that they do indeed have these files readily available. There is a chance the case gets dismissed for discovery violations.
Discovery has been an issue in all of these cases from the start. For my own case, the discovery received included body cam footage from state troopers, but by the time I was arrested state troopers had been off the ground for hours. So it’s not even remotely relevant.
Aside from the defendant who was set to start trial today, there are at least three others awaiting trial. A decent amount of arrestees from this day ended up taking a plea deal.
