If you read the letter the EU Parliment references SUVs ... we don't have SUV in EU as registration category. Seems like they watched too much american youtube videos on the topic :D
Well killing SUV trend is noble cause, but I think the solution is in the source of the problem: per regulation - bigger car can pollute more - lets make absolute BUT REALISTIC limit of pollution per distance/engine hours and decrease them every few years. Another problem I think is that developing a new car is very expensive now (or actually, car companies just got cheap and greedy) which hinders innovation but more importantly diversity on the market. You cannot buy a small city car if 90% of new available cars are SUV-like.
