Yesterday I had a long convo about #abortion with a thoughtful friend. He's conservative and against it being "easy". We unpacked that to: he wants there to be a consequence for careless conception.

I said "There is no such thing as a just law; every law has the policy effect you want and unintended consequences. Just like a rifle always has recoil. There's no policy outcome I am willing to pay for with unwanted babies."

He... took that on board and didn't want to talk about it any more. 😀
