Deniers held the floor for decades, along with stakeholders in fossil fuel & related industries who knew the potential vast loss of revenue. The media (as usual) protected their share of income from mega-corporations & never put their weight behind science - even after early doubts about data were dismissed.
I don’t think the every-day American understands the threat looming over humanity & the entire biome. We haven’t internalized our future reality. I didn’t know the FACTS until I researched for the #Resistance movement in 2018, & those facts are a scary litany of death & destruction.
▪️Sixth Mass Extinction Event - graver than the Permian’s that killed 95% of species
▪️Fires, droughts, sea levels rising/floods, extreme weather events, Gulf Stream collapse
▪️Marine food chain collapse, pollinator extinction & agricultural collapse
▪️Famine, forced migration, millions displaced, governments & economies in turmoil.
This is the reality of our & our progeny’s future.
