PM Shmyhal: Goal to make aggressor pay for all crimes, including those against environment
==========
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized the common goal of Ukraine and its partners to achieve a just and sustainable peace and make the aggressor pay for all crimes committed, including those against the environment. The goal is laid out in President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula, which emphasizes assessing the damage to the environment, holding Russia accountable, and restoring and reconstructing Ukraine. Ukraine has made progress in dialogue with partners regarding compensation involving seized Russian assets. The government is waiting for effective decisions from the European Union, the United States, and other countries to allocate Russia's resources for helping Ukraine. Since the full-scale invasion, the Ministry of Environment has recorded almost 3,600 Russian crimes against the environment, resulting in losses of UAH 2.2 trillion. The constant shelling has led to the formation of over 750,000 tons of debris waste, polluting 30 million hectares. Ukraine is implementing environmental reforms and plans to intensify climate policy implementation in 2024. The government has completed the reform of the field of subsoil use and has seen record profits in the subsoil and forest industries. The plans for 2024 include rebuilding Ukraine in line with "green" standards.
