Ethereum has been criticized for having a large 'pre-mined' percentage (18 million, or 72%) of all ETH currently in existence. This pre-mined share of ETH, totaling more than $1.6 billion, has been allocated to the Ethereum Foundation and its ecosystem partners, including the developers and marketers. Despite this, however, Ethereum is still one of the most successful cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization and has been adopted by many companies.
